Just last week a teacher asked us why did we come to MC. Many said because their parents went there. Other said because they heard it was a good school. For me I have a whole different reason. I am a single mother of three and I work full time. I've always wanted to go back to school to pursue a degree in nursing but I knew it would take up a lot of my time, time that I needed to spend with my kids. For years I put it off. Making up every excuse in the book on why I haven't enrolled yet. I would feel out the enrollment application but that would be it. I would ask myself everyday when I went to work is this what you want to be doing for the rest of your life, being a CNA (certified nursing assistant)? You know how they say you have more bills then you have money, well that's me.
I received a e-mail from the admission department a few days before classes were suppose to start. In the e-mail I was informed of the information I needed to turn in to complete my application process. You would think I needed a lot. All I had to do to complete my admission was to turn in my high school transcript. So after I got that e-mail I decided I was going to do it. And here I am officially a student of Mississippi College majoring in Nursing. Most students would wait until they graduate and get that perfect job before they say this is a dream come true. Not for me, the day they told me I was excepted was my dream come true.

Good for you ! I know how hard it is, because I'm a single parent too. Believe me you can do it and your children will look up to you as a role model.
Some people overlook the fact that not everyone here started college right out of high school. My dad finished his Masters degree here in his thirties, so I have an idea what you are going through. I have to say it takes a lot to do what you are. Like Tracie said, you are a good role model for your kids.
I'm so happy for you that you are getting to do exactly what it is that you truly want to do. I'm sure there will be hard times, but just remember that as long as you know that this is God's plan for your life then you can overcome ANYTHING that is put in front of you.
